Jennifer Laslie is a crazy cat lady who lives in Utah with her wonderful husband and two children. Her office affords her a mountain view that she loves! When she’s not thinking about cheesecake or cats, she can be found in the bookstore in the Young Adult section, coffee in hand.

How did I end up in Utah?
I used to live in Louisville, KY. It was where I was born and raised.
In June of 2017, my husband and I visited Glacier National Park in Montana. As I stepped off the plane and pulled in a lungful of fresh mountain air, I said, “Can we move now?” I fell in love with those mountains and knew deep within me we were connected somehow.
In October of 2018, after months of applying for jobs within his company, Salt Lake City was the first place to offer Kevin a job with mountains. We flew out to SLC that month to make sure we were making the right decision. He, of course, accepted the job. He had to leave me in Louisville, KY to travel to SLC at the beginning of November (2018) to start his new job on November 5th.
The following 43 days were the loneliest I’ve ever been. My husband is my best friend. We’ve been together since August 4th, 2001. We were married on April 20th, 2002. Those 43 days were the longest we’d ever been apart. We spoke on the phone every night, but it never felt like enough.
On December 14, 2018, Kevin flew back to Louisville to help us load the boxes in the trailer and to shove the two vehicles left in Louisville, KY full of things we’d need, and all the animals, while we waited for our belongings to be trucked across the US. We arrived in Layton, UT on December 20th, 2018 to start our new life 1600 miles away from the only city I’d ever lived in. Our Christmas present wasn’t the traditional type. Our new state and new house were our gift to ourselves. We have a houseful with my husband and me, Bryce, Matthew, and Jo (Kevin’s mother). Plus way too many animals, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
